Your books, notes, highlights, and reading history stay on your device. Vintage Reader has no accounts, no analytics of its own, and no tracking of what you read. The only third party involved is Google’s ad service in the free version, described below.
Books you add, and your reading records (positions, highlights, notes, bookmarks, lists, collections, settings) are stored locally on your device. If you choose a downloads folder, file copies of fetched books are written there. Records you export are files you control.
Beyond advertising (below), the app touches the network only when you use Download books, and only to contact the book source you chose (Project Gutenberg by default, or sources you add).
The free version is ad-supported. Ads are served by Google AdMob and appear as an in-app banner on the library and menu screens and as an occasional full-screen ad at chapter breaks while reading. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process device and advertising identifiers and related data, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy and “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.” In the UK and EEA, a consent prompt (Google’s User Messaging Platform) gathers your choices before any ad is requested. The premium version removes all advertising and ad code paths.
Internet — for Download books and, in the free version, advertising. Advertising ID — used by Google AdMob in the free version. Folder access — only folders you explicitly pick, for adding or saving books; access can be revoked in system settings at any time.
Vintage Reader is a general-audience reading app and is not directed to children under 13.
Uninstalling removes the app’s library. Exported records and your downloads folder are yours and remain. Vigil Software Ltd holds no account or reading data on its servers, because none is collected; ad-related data is handled by Google under the policies linked above.
